Complaints and Appeals Policy

The Singaporean Journal of Business Economics and Management (SJBEM) welcomes complaints and appeals as an opportunity to improve editorial and publishing processes. The journal is committed to addressing all complaints promptly, transparently, and constructively.

  1. Definition of a Complaint

A complaint is considered valid if it meets the following criteria:

  • The complainant clearly expresses dissatisfaction regarding SJBEM’s editorial processes or decisions.
  • The complaint goes beyond mere disagreement with a decision, focusing instead on procedural issues, such as undue delays, lack of transparency, or inappropriate communication.
  • The complaint pertains to matters within the responsibility of the journal, including editorial content, peer review processes, or publication practices.

  1. How to Submit a Complaint
  • Complaints should be submitted via email to the editorial office: editor@singaporeanjbem.com.
  • Authors or readers should provide a clear description of the issue, including relevant details (e.g., manuscript ID, dates, communications).
  • Whenever possible, the complaint will be addressed by the editorial team member directly involved.

  1. Escalation Process
  • If the initial handling does not resolve the issue, the complaint will be escalated to the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision is final.
  • SJBEM aims to provide a definitive response within two weeks of receiving a complaint.
  • If a final resolution cannot be provided within this period, an interim response will be sent within two weeks, with updates provided until the matter is fully resolved.

  1. Commitment to Fairness
  • Complaints are evaluated objectively and impartially, without discrimination based on the complainant’s identity, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
  • The process ensures confidentiality of all parties involved while maintaining transparency regarding actions taken.
  • The journal uses complaints as a tool to improve editorial quality, peer review integrity, and author experience.
